SARASOTA, Fla. — Instructors at Ringling College in Sarasota said they are on the forefront of virtual reality education. The school is just starting the country’s first bachelor’s degree in virtual reality.

“Virtual reality is one of the biggest opportunities right now,” said instructor Morgan Woolverton.

He said about a dozen students are in the first virtual reality class, but the program will grow each year. Woolverton said each year more companies will start hiring students with virtual reality skills.

Shanna De luliis is working in the virtual world for Magic Leap. She is a graduate of Ringling College.

“Understanding the digital side of things is really the path of the future at the point,” said De luliis.

She encourages students in graphic design to take advantage of learning virtual reality skills.

“It’s honestly one of the smartest things they could do right now,” said De luliis.
