Hundreds of Manatee, Sarasota, and Pinellas County residents are upset about the ongoing red tide situation, and they're gearing up for a peaceful rally on Sunday.

“I’ve never seen that type of killed just from red tide,” said Cortez resident Elizabeth Shore.

She is one of the organizers of the Hands Along the Water event. Shore said the idea is for people to hold hands as a sign of unity. She is hoping lawmakers look at ways to finding funding to stop the red tide.

“In a non-political way we want to bring people together and hold hands and say enough is enough,” said Shore.

The event is at 10 a.m. on August 12 at the following locations:

Siesta Key: 946 Beach Rd.

Englewood: Englewood Beach

St. Pete Beach: 6850 Beach Plaza Blvd.

Venice: Venice Beach

John’s Pass: 12901 Gulf Blvd, Saint Petersburg

Clearwater Beach: 1 Causeway Blvd, Clearwater

Anna Maria: 2650 Gulf Dr. S, Bradenton Beach
